Arlington, Texas

So, I just got back from the trip of my lifetime :) don’t sound like much so far, but if you know me, you know that the only trip I ever go on is out to Cache Valley to visit family. So I’ll start at the beginning and tell you about this great trip. I got Sid tickets to go see the Dallas Cowboys play Philadelphia in Dallas Jan 3.  I booked a flight and hotel, reserved a rental car arranged for a babysitter and we were all set to have an awesome trip.  Well that’s not exactly how it turned out, not at first anyways.  So we get to the Salt Lake airport after we’ve dropped off the kids, how sad was that for me to leave my 8 1/2 month old baby, but I survived it.  Yeah we’re standing in line to check in at the airport and like a half hour later we have not moved from the spot we’d been standing in.  Come to find out our flight is delayed, and not just a little, it was suppose to depart Salt Lake at 5:00 P.M. at this point it was delayed until 10:45 P.M. So not only do we have to sit and wait at the airport, but we miss our connection in Denver, Co and because its a weekend, a holiday weekend to be exact, all the other flights out are totally booked.  What a joy for us, so each person in line was taking like 1-2 hours at the check in desk trying to figure out how they were going to get where they needed to be.  By the time we finally got up to the desk, it was approaching 9:30 P.M. (I think I forgot to mention, we arrived at the airport at 3:00 P.M.)  So we have no hope that after we get to Denver at this point that we will have any way to get the rest of the way to Dallas.  But we’re told to wait until we got to the desk to make sure.  We were certainly glad we did, when it was our turn next we started hearing that our airline was working with another one and they had just approved 1st class tickets to Dallas, to replace the connection we had missed.  We didn’t want to get our hopes up, but as soon as we walked up to check in and the lady took our information, she booked us in 1st class 4 hours after our flight would arrive in Denver to go to Dallas, Tx.  So hope was restored again, we were going to make it to the game. As went went through security and made it to our boarding gate  we see that our 5:00 delayed flight now isn’t leaving until 11:25. Although we’re still not discouraged, because we’re going to make it after all to the game we sit to wait.  11:25 rolls around and our flight has not even arrived yet, an announcement is then heard, flight 501 to Denver is expected to arrive at 12:00 A.M.  Ok getting a little frustrated but still ok.  12:00 A.M. rolls around, still no flight yet, although at 12:15 we hear our flight is in, but we have to wait for it to drop off international passengers and be cleaned and pulled around to our boarding gate.  It’s now 1:00 A.M. We can see out the window our plane being brought to our gate, “yeah” so about 1:15 we board, now comes the worst part of all.  I have never flown before, I’m scared to death, I have just been through —- you know, and I’m sitting on this plane trying not to let anyone know how scared I am.  Well I found out I’m a big girl and flying isn’t that bad after all, it only took till our 3rd flight before I would even look out the window (secretly I was just pretending we were driving in a really big really fast car :) )  We are now in Denver, Co and the airport has given us a voucher to stay in a hotel there, but our next flight is in 4 hours, and we didn’t want to take any chances on going through what we went through in Salt Lake so we forwent the hotel and hung out at the airport, getting our boarding passes ASAP.  Yay we finally made it to Texas had to hurry to check into our hotel there, shower and walk like forever to get to the Dallas Stadium, (because of course we showed up right before the game started and there were like a billion people there.)  Had an awesome time at the game, Dallas won 24-0 Sid was ecstatic.  Just wondering if you realize at this point we have been up for over 24 hours.  So after the game and a quick meal around 9:00 P.M. we head back to the hotel and totally CRASH….  But not before setting three alarms and arranging a wake up call, because we had to be at the airport at 8:00 A.M. Our flights home went very smooth, got our kids picked back up, oh and the 8 month old didn’t even know I was gone, didn’t even miss me it seemed like.  And my 9 year old kicked a hole in the baby sitters wall, oh well I was just so glad to see all my kiddos again, can’t believe how much I missed them.  So all in all through the awful beginning of our trip, the trying to sleep in an airport, walking forever, being tired, missing my kids, to seeing the game of a lifetime and spending quality time with my hubby.  I have to say it was a good first trip to somewhere other than my moms :)   Look at the pics, we only look a little sleepy :) :) :)

I hope you could read through my experience without getting too bored I figure this is a good journal post so I’ll remember this fiasco forever, as well as share it with you.

Christmas 2009

We had a great Christmas.  Sid was able to come home on Christmas Eve and spend that day and Christmas day with us.  We made cookies for Santa, wrapped gifts for each other, and opened jammies on Christmas eve.  Christmas day we opened the gifts from Santa and played all the rest of the day.  I love the time off from school when we can spend it together, until the kids try to kill each other :) The days we’ve spent waiting for school to resume have been fun as well, the kids have pretty much been off playing and keeping themselves occupied, which is nice they don’t come up to me and say, “Mom I’m bored I don’t have anything to do.” I’m sure some of you know how that can be. :) I’ve put up a few picture from our holiday I hope you enjoy.
